The library's meeting room entrance will open at 8:15 a.m. for those interested in attending this program. The library will remain closed to all other services until we open at 9 a.m. Light refreshments will be served.
The commemoration ceremony is livestreamed thanks to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. At the ceremony, families gather at Memorial Plaza to read aloud the names of the 2,983 men, women, and children killed in the September 11, 2001, attacks and February 26, 1993, bombing of the World Trade Center. Six moments of silence will mark the times when each of the World Trade Center towers was struck, when each towel fell, and the times corresponding to the attack at the Pentagon, and the crash of the United Airlines Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. A seventh moment of silence honoring those lost to 9/11 health effects will be observed following the reading of the names.
Visit the 9/11 Memorial Wall in our lobby to view and touch a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. Visit Christina's Corner in Youth Services and make a leaf to add to our remembrance tree in memory of Christina Ryook who passed on 9/11 in the attacks on the World Trade Center. Visit the Makerspace to record your 9/11 story.
